Because as time increases, ur physical damage tends to get higher than your magical skills.... So, supports are really the king of mid to early game and the reason why teams need them to create space for our carries
Riki. plain and simple, early on he can chit on people even before hitting level 6, and if he is fed enough he can secure GG EZ win by mid game and by late game he'll be taunting by the fountain...
Enigma and Magnus. Both of them can turn a team fight even if you're way behind. Magnus has a higher potential for throwing though, when people feel the need to follow an epic 5-man ult with a skewer.

What I mean is, which heroes are the most influential in all three phases of the game? For example, a Clockwerk can 'carry' games by playing well. E.g. succeeding many ganks or winning teamfights. On the other hand its much harder to 'carry' your team with a Phantom Lancer or a Lich where you can't affect certain phases.
Some of the heroes I fill fit this bill are;

2. Clockwerk
3. Nightstalker
4. Meepo
