Its got nothing to do with the pros....SB has been buffed to the point where its pretty damn ridiculous with the +30AS/DMG for just 3k, as well as the +20%MS (which fucks over a lot of heroes) and pretty big (at least early on) break damage. Not to mention that nerfs that gem has received. Yes its lame as fuck, I agree, but I can't blame everyone for buying it at the moment, its a really strong item. Should probably get some kind of minor nerf, but I'm not so sure.
Pubs have always built HoM/Bfury even at the most inappropriate of times. LD/Kotl/Furion/Brood/Chen pushing into your base 10 minutes into the game? DW guys almost got my battlefury!

I Personally think NP midas is good not lothars though. how ever it does help to escape and push on noobs in pubs. veno midas i dont see often but lothars on him is a great item if he is carry in pub.
