Had the same problem when i first installed dota on my macbook, i use wineskin tho, it was just stuck on "preparing to launch". After a week or so the game finally started, so just keep trying!
thanks guys, i found out that my nvidia control panel went missing after reinstall of OS so i downloaded nvidia driver and delete cfg files and Dota works now :D but now my laptop is so sucky all of a sudden overheating like crap lol, might needa clean my fan haha
I have acer 5760G, had same problem with overheating.. I just removed dust filters from air vents (they were actually preventing good airflow :D ) and now, -15C to -20C overall temperatures
I had this problem, you can trouble shoot it in the steam help. I have to open my dota 2 game up in safe mode everytime.

So recently I've reinstalled a new Win 7 x64 OS. After that. Then i installed Dota 2 on this computer. But there seems to be a problem where it says Preparing to launch dota then nothing happens. Ive tried integrating the files , reinstalling Dota and steam but nothing seems to work. I have an acer aspire 5745g with an i7. Please help me im so desperate to play this game agn but i just cant T+T
