Dota 2's biggest flaw in General Discussion

Sorry for the cliched title, but I really have to ask this. Why are first-timers in dota 2 - like, literally first-timers - matched with above-average to really good players in pubs? Yesterday, I was teaching my friend who just made an account and downloaded the game, by playing a pub game in front of him, from his account. I'm new to dota too - but I have some experience - it's been over a month of dota 2 for me, I've played 100+ matches and my win rate is around average but I LOST 4 CONSECUTIVE MATCHES playing from his account - a NOOB'S ACCOUNT. Shouldn't valve's matchmaking put a first-timer with other first-timers, or at least, with other relatively noob players?

The sort of enemies I was going against in those 4 matches were co-ordinated, serious team-players, knowing how to counter pubstompers (I picked huskar in match 1, made a few kills and then lost to their team play). They had lina supporting their bs with force staff, a legion commander who wud ambush with shadow blade while my team wasn't much keen on wards and dust, etc. and even a pro MEEPO player, who stomped the match through poofing everyone.

Consider this guys - if my friend - a total noob - would have played these matches he'd have been crushed to dust, without doing anythinga at all in the match. And lost faith in Dota 2. And probably never played it again.

I feel that match-making is seriiously flawed in Dota 2, something must be urgently done about it.

    sleave

      smurfs

      Hopeless

anyway u sure u didnt stomp any game before that lose streak? when u stomp valve sends u to high/very high to test how good u are so it could be that

It starts you out at a certain level, then raises/lowers your hidden mmr based on how well you do. However, matchmaking definitely has issues and my win rate actually went down 3.5% in several weeks. I have gotten back .5% since, but have a long road back to 50% after that losing streak. Doesn't seem like it is my fault anymore when I lose 18/20 games in a row. #volvo fix matchmaking or giff more immortals

Perhaps because people, much like yourself, play from fresh new accounts that they have no business playing from.

@sleave no, i was playing from my friend's account, which was brand new

@chronic feeder, i see, so eventually, my friend would be matched against equal players. and yh same here, win rate used to be arnd 50% on my own account, losing streaks in the last week put me down a whole 5-6%

@Dodo Basse, yeah I expected someone to say that. You're right, i shouldn't have played so many matches - just one or two are enough. He should learn the rest on his own. But I checked the enemies' dota profiles. not new accounts.

I played a couple games on new account a week ago and most people were new so I played full yolo retard mode so it would be fair.

You're still learning yourself. You barely have 300 games in, you still have a lot to learn.

^what this guy said. Don't think that dota is the type of game easy to learn hard to master. No. It's hard to learn hard to master. Think that you're playing dark souls on max difficulty with your hands tied on your back. I am close to 1000 matches on my acc and i'm still bad at many things.

Sorry to say but you ruined your friend's Dota account forever by playing on it. Even 1-2 matches are enough to ruin it. :)

Now expect his loss streak to continue. Please never ever play on some other people's account. Not even once.

^not true. I did the same with my friend's acc and he can play just well.

^ It's really dangerous though as something like Smurf Detection may kick in and pretty much ruin your rating (by increasing it to 4 or 5k).

I wouldn't be talking...if your smurfs don't get more than 90% wr you are doing something wrong (like sub-10 kda's)
