Anyone remember this? Why does ppl waste their money. Is it worth it that you spend too much into nothing

    Dunning-Kruger-Doto

I have friends, who bought the compendium. Is it worth it? No, I can play Dota for free. Why should I buy a compendium and collect playercards. Post players in my list have bought this datapackage, that adds nothing to the game, beside some cosmetic gimmicks.

But if everyone would think like me, dota 2 would not exsist. The money they spend, is the money that keeps dota 2 running. Servers, new heros, balancing patches, that costs manpower, infrastructure and in the end:

      MONEY.

See it as an exchange for the overall service, that valve provides us with dota 2.

If they charged 10 euros per month, it would be still a fair deal for, since its my fav. hobby. I spent like 20 hours per week playing dota.

Make dota free but force players to pay like 2.99-5 bucks per season. That way duplicates and smurfs would be gone. Or at least the freeloading ones.

remember that million dollar pink wardog... 3 months later everybody has it.

              Hopeless

it immediately went down in price after that purchase.

also, why did the pink become more available??? They are still legendary colors.

@9v1 This is an argument of Valve sales, this sale was made outside of steam and has nothing to do with Valve.

                    @Everyone else

I believe it was some Arab dude who bought it and people suspect it was the same dude who used to stalk random twitch accounts donating like $10K randomly to certain players.

Most store items are fairly cheap and they need something to fund the game, while in most peoples small minds this money all goes into gabes "fat" pockets this is not entirely true and Valve and Dota2 as a game do have quite sizable overhead.

Lets go through a list of things....

                    1. The steam market charges work in the same way paypal or ebay does where it charges a small fee for the transaction which goes towards the upkeep of the marketplace and any fraud which Valve cannot combat that well so have reserves for refunds.

                    2. In game items go towards the continued development of DotA2 and looking it from a compendium point of view that fast influx of money allowed them to quickly develop new features and stuff for the game. So while people think they're doing a massive favor for Dota2 buy spending $5 in the store are delusional as only about $1 of that will probably go into Valves pocket and even less will go back into expansion and development.

Consider what they have to pay for (Dota2 only)

                    > Developers
                    > Hosting in many countries to provide good coverage
                    > Support teams
                    > QA testers
                    > Community moderators
                    > Administrators
                    > Financial team
                    > Project managers

                    > Team leaders
                    > Designers
                    > External resources

.....and on and on. As the game is free to play, where else would they get the funding to continue supporting it. A lot of free to play games usually have in game purchases and no one is obligated to buy anything.

                    3. Every team has its own overhead and are funded by different sources, the Dota2 team may overlap with that of some other games but they are different teams funded from a different pool. Like most large businesses, while all the teams are owned by the main company each team has a budget and gets funds in their own way, and there are even sister companies which come under the umbrella of the organization but are funded and managed completely separate.

People are just massively small-minded about things like this and think that "Volvo" is taking their money and not giving them anything in return, and with their "hacking" abilities they could code a new MM system in a matter of minutes.

                    ....not true at all.

Tbh, I gained money from buying the compendium and games on steam. I just simply collect items and sell them. A lot of people on steam are very inefficient with their money, and thus lose a lot of it.

So what part of world are you from?

                        SalaciousCrome

He is right though, like instead of deleting I items or offering them I simply put the on the market for just below the price and have made about $15 this past week from just putting up the shitty rares and drops I get that I really don't want. This is also helpful now that it is steam sale times.

.....but then again I did blow about $100 on steam summer cards in the hopes of getting the clock item till I saw my chances were literally nill.

So you think its a conspiracy huh

Nah its about personal responsibility and some people don't have it, others do, and even some other just don't care.

                              Pilot

What does that have to do with it? In any case. In my profile it says I play on SEA. And I can tell you I live in a third world country.

People just have to be more responsible with their cash. If I had to choose with saving up for another game (which I can get practically for free) or flaunting my cash with in game items, I'd choose to save.
