That is the problem with the bullshit "professional" division, which gives them a completely unfair advantage in these ratings. They don't make any sense anyway given that they are looking purely at pub matches, and a lot of pros would still end up around the top without them.
The top 100 is a bit shitty at the moment for several reasons
-the aforementioned "professional" division
-spamming a hero several hundred times despite playing at a very low level can get you up there
'Playing vs Shitters doesn't give you points'

And how do people get professional? I've seen many players who aren't considered 'pro' have it...
Thanks a lot guys, the hero is really, really good, and it didn't get changed last patch either, looks like it's in a good place.
Lost my last game, back to 184.
Diamond level 7, but 5.3k MMR?
I am diamond level 8 with 5.2k MMR
Are you playing Ember in party or solo matches?
2 dfferent heroes, and its not all about mmr, i think its harder to become diamond 10 invoker then ember, as he been out for long time and more ppl are playing him, but i might be wrong.
@Grimorum holy shit if you're real I love you, and a lot of my Ember games have be party recently.
I am diamond 8 with 5050 MMR south america. Maybe you're playing some unranked games, or games with lower MMR friends? Or maybe divisions just dont make sense
Yeah quite a few of my friends are lower mmr... But Diamond 7? If all I did was Solo Queue ranked is it going to be much higher?
Yes, that's it. Unfortunately if you play with your friends your division will get lower because the game is at a lower level.
I'm diamond 10 and 5300mmr. #18 world PL. Wierd feels like they weight division and matches played too heavily and not stats like hero dmg tower dmg kda etc...
Of course it needs to be weighted by division, what the fuck is wrong with you? Any random idiot can easily queue into low ranked games and get ridiculous KDAs/etc. At the moment there is arguably TOO much weighting on those kind of stats, the division of each matches is by far the most important factor.
Take two players with identical stats on a hero, say 600GPM, 4KDA, 60% win rate. One plays at 5K MMR, the other at 2K MMR. Are those even remotely comparable? Even at 5500 and 4500 that is a huge gap, and that needs to play a big factor.
Ultimately its really difficult to build a good algorithm, IMO they should just cut off any matches below a certain rating/division, because quite frankly, I don't care what anyone <4.5k is doing with a hero, the quality of their opponents is enough to invalidate anything they can do with their hero.
@sinatra
And how do people get professional? I've seen many players who aren't considered 'pro' have it...
That's actually quite a good question, i'm actually 38th in popularity in their epsort tab, and don't have it ^^
I guess you have to be in a team for it to happen, and not only standin (which is weird in some way)
-i played more "professional" game than w33, yet he is in professional 5 while i'm in diamond 10- which tend to verify my assumption-
@matrice, amazing tb dude.
I guess we have to wait for a dev to reply or something,
Edit: I'm also around 50th in popularity. Somehow..
Yeah it's more about playing with low bracket friends that hurts your hero score cause it deems the games to be of low difficulty.
There are a few ways of getting this.....
1. Play loads of low skill matches but maintain win rate or KDA
2. Play a low amount of games with really high skilled players in a stack maintaining KDA and WR
Being betweeen 4700-5000 rating is actually harder to get in the ratings as noobs will play 1000+ games with a hero and will get rated for that, 5 stacks will get crazy winrates together, or you've been labelled "Professional" for playing one joinDOTA match so you get auto boosted to the top anyways.

High Skill Axe is number 72 because a lot of games http://www.dotabuff.com/players/87214448 other examples of "platinum" players up there due to high number of games are http://www.dotabuff.com/players/109328532 and http://www.dotabuff.com/players/95952396
Sedoy is there cause he is a professional so gets up on the ratings despite being shit on the hero http://www.dotabuff.com/players/53178236 same thing for Scandal http://www.dotabuff.com/players/86750262

lol
Yeah DotaSkill was garbage and people would use it to boast or put people down which was hilarious at the time.
20/12/2012 Never forget where you started :_( http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/82532474
you are played alot of unranked games as ES being stacked with friend/friends so why are you be surprised???
I was just being stupid, I read 2012 and was thinking of 2011. I started on november 2011.
No I used to be a decently good player when i started out so I have in the past been paired with people who are quite high ranked in the past. Sadly this didn't last and I started making friends who were good fun to play with but in the end caused me to legitimately under calibrate due to stacking with them all the time which originally had an effect on how you calibrated.
Still we live and we learn and at least I have picked up a bit, that guy above me in that game ironically plays a shit ton of Meepo as well. I have played so much DotA in so many brackets ranging from about 5.5K+ to probably about 2K+ so there's a high chance I have played with a ton of people.
e.g. Sinatra :) http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/136879927 you and I were probably the highest in our stacks at that time.
^_^, I'm in a similar boat. Most of my friends are around 1-3k, but they're so much more fun to play with than my higher rating friends. I've known these guys for years and I still stack with them, they're the only people I enjoy playing Dota with. Sometimes I'll get annoyed because I know we could have won if we had a randomer on the team rather than one of them, but they're still too much fun to play with.
Still going strong if anyone's interested
Yeah the calculations is pretty BS. Theres people with like 1000 games on a hero with like 48% winrate on top 100. On the other hand , I get top 30 on a hero with only 30 games. Its stupid
If you do care about the new ranking system, you have to stop playing with lower bracket players.
I've dropped 20+ hero scores and from diamond 10 to 8 after playing 2 high skill games.

http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/991188356
My friend who only 5 stacks in unranked games and is 3k rated is ranked top 100 omniknight because he has an 80% win rate with the hero.
I've since then learned not to take the top 100 very seriously.
