Borderlands 1 and 2 is a first persom shooter in h&s style.
A classic hack and slash SINGLE player would be Sacred Gold (the first game, not the sequel) or diablo 2 with the Lord of Destruction expansion
The best hack and slash in the world rwhich happens to be multiplayer only right now might be path of exile as of 2015
Bonus: I heard some good things and some bad things about torchlight 1 and 2
Loved dungeon siege 2 here, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is pretty good game too - you might want to try it out.

In Russia, most people define h'n's and "slasher". While first is diablo-like games, second is Devil May Cry wannabes.
Among the first I highly recommend to try mod to Diablo II - Median XL.
Among the second - Devil May Cry is the best game ever created. DmC actually isn't that bad as a stand-alone project, but it can't hold up to its title, therefore the hate.
Somewhat mixed games are Dark Souls and Darksiders II
Oh I thought hack n slash was exclusively arpg likes, like torchlight and diablo. DMC and darksiders I thought were 3rd person action games.

So i was playing this hack and slash game named kitika on Andriod and really enjoyed it, now i want to play a good hack and slash game on PC. I saw that kirika is also available on PC but sadly it's korean only ;_;
