It certainly did its job agaisnt this early pushing team.

midas is a really shit item imo

you should only get it in two situations

a) hero that needs farm but has low farming potential, and does decently with levels (e.g. OD, Invoker, Silencer, AA) even then you can do much better in many situations with other items

b) game is going ultra-fucking-late

you can clearly see he lost his safelane, midas is not the reason you lost, its because he's a bad player

In the short run, Midas speeds xp gain but is a net loss in gold. Midas takes about 18-20 min to pay for itself (assuming we're not talking about alchemist). The issue is, after about 30 min of gametime, Midas is fairly useless (e.g. it's not a teamfight/damage item). So I'd only buy midas on a hero who needs quick xp and can get midas by around 5-6 min.

On slark its a 100% waste imo. He can farm faster woods with max Q and aquila/bottle. That midas could have been an early shadowblade to farm lone heroes, this guy really underestimated slarks power early on.

I would only buy midas as an invoker. I rather farm gold than get more lvls on most carries anyways.

IMO it's good on any hero that has no farming tool and no core item to rush, ex: Riki, Silencer, Bara, Night Stalker, Earth Spirit, ecc.. It guarantees you some gpm and exp while you constantly fight. And ofc Invoker who is the best midas carries because he is extremely level dependant
Slark can farm really fast as said so it's not needed

Silencer has good farm as a core if he skill the auto cast spell and get mana reg

b)
Heroes like Drow and Naix has faster GPM farm with ordinary farm items with high DPS compared to getting a Midas.
Atleast in 6.83. Therefore not getting a Midas would be better even if the game is not going to ultra late.

I would only get midas in these 3 situations

e)
I play nature prophet and I cant do early pushing (early as in min zero)

f)
I play for example jugger or PA mid and forget to use my money and suddenly have 2000 in the bank.

g)
They pick Chen and my team has counterpicks like Ench, Lifestealer etc.
Then the midas can be used to help insta kill all the Chen minions

I have never done it but it seems reasonable to get Midas on treant. All he need to be good early is mana reg, a stout shield and ring or armor. A midas would help him continue being strong the whole game without hurting his early game that much.

This probably also goes for KOTL. But he needs boots and headress instead.

i) Rubick seems like a special case. If the other team has OP ultimates he might wana rush lvl 16 and could therefore use a Midas.

Riki is my best hero. I would NEVER get midas on him. He is to good early at snowballing.

On Nightstalker I would rush Radiance instead of Midas. Not saying I actually would do it.

Edit: Spirit Breaker is also to good at early snowballing. Just dont get midas on him also.

^ Exactly, all the heroes he mentioned above are very good early so why would you get that shitty item, you dont want to go late on them anyways. Get real items.
