They were probably dropping stat items in order to get more value from using soul ring

or maybe they did drop soul ring and the item does not collect the mana back? who knows... dota 2 still has its bugs

you got full HP bar and 0 mana. Your items are Arcane boots and Soul Ring
You can drop Arcanes, use soulring, and then pickup arcanes, so you are basically making mana out of nothing (out of ur hp, to be precise)

Was the pro dropping Soul Ring after using it?

I'll test this once I build a soul ring...

sometimes a nyx player will kill your items when you drop them. Pro players are so next level they will drop soul ring (the lesser valued item) just to check if a nyx player is around. If the sr is killed the whole team immediately TP's in for a kill, and you lose your SR instead of mana boots

^ I don't see that being worth while unless you are going to be able to push high ground or get Rosh or something only if you kill nyx first.

Because you cant buy 4 packs of sentries and have way more bonuses

why sentries when u can buy soulrings to check if nyx is there

Legend has it that the Soul Ring god, Soulero, will sometimes grant your Soul Ring with a buff if you drop it on the ground for a moment. Rumour has it Kuroky was playing Dark Seer and dropped his Soul Ring, Soulero changed it into +100% mana regeneration.
