I don't have trouble playing against techies, but having him either on your own or opponent's team makes the game very boring. You play some sort of minesweeper dota and both teams hate the techies. He's really shitty if you know what to do, but you also become a little limited to your movement until gem/supports can afford more sentries. And games drag on much longer than they should because of high ground defence (especially if you only have 1-2 ranged heroes).

Ya honestly one pick one ban would be the closest thing to captain mode in pubs.... Because let's face it you can't do CM in solo que you get retard captains or people who cry cause you didn't pick them PA. Its a shame too because IMO captains Mode is by far the most balanced mode.

3k, it's not true, techies is still picked a ton here. I put my last 16 games in a spreadsheet, not counting my own picks (I played warlock 6 times in a row), techies was 6th most picked, picked 4 times in 16 games. The heroes picked 3 times or more were:

It's a small sample but just by observation I can say it seems accurate. Techies shows up a lot, he's in the second teir of popularity after a few mid heroes like SF, storm, QOP and BS who show up like every other game.
