I'd get it if most people these days had issues with understanding where the military's gone in the middle east in the past 10-20 years, though. Afghanistan and Iraq are the most well-known countries the states' military have occupied, but even living through it as an adult, I've been confused what the fuck we've been trying to do in those places (is it an official 'war'? is it a peacekeeping thing? are we just droning the hell out of terrorists? are we helping the country create a democracy? what the hell is the goal?)

I tried getting into Sabaton and Rammstein (the standard modern metal bands) and I found them both cringey, honestly.
i do like rammstein actually. german people generally dont like them because of the lyrics (i heard they are really cringey) and because of the way till pronounces the words but the music is not bad. not my favourite band, but still good. liebe ist für alle da is the best album imo.
i dont actually listen to too many bands. i like the big four (metallica > anthrax > slayer > megadeth imo), mastodon, pantera and lamb of god (i very rarely listen to these 2 anymore). so yeah its just 6 bands i regularly listen to. i obviously know a number of songs from the classic bands like sabbath, maiden, priest, motörhead etc but im not really too deep into them. i dont have a playlist though.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
