If you got both options (or similar) do it 1 year straight and never think about it anymore, much better believe me, I finished this year with all the bullshit (shooting range is also something u MUST do till 32) and I am 32 (turned in October).
Well it definately something that boosts your cababilities to relationate with other ppl and makes you less dependable on others for some of the things (basically makes you grow up) but yes, the downside is that its filled with ppl who have a complex of inferiority sadly.

german army is voluntary nowadays. I actually wanted to go there for 3-4 years but i can't be arsed to get yelled at by retards
