Well when you play solo games its based on your solo mmr (IE if ur above 3.8k ur VHS) but if you play with a friend and are say 4k and he is 2k the average is 3k hence your game would be classed as Normal skill
The "hidden" mmr in your unranked games is completely separate from your ranked mmr.
So if you play a normal game and your hidden rank is say 2k it will be normal skill.
If you play a ranked game and your ranked mmr is 4k it will be very high skill.
3.3 is High skill, but sometimes you can squeeze into High skill with just 3.2 depending on how the search goes, and how it matches players, sometimes it will just settle for 3.2 player to speed up search times.
Very High skill is 3.8, but you can squeeze in at 3.7K sometimes, i literally just under 3.7, i'm 3679, just barely, i need to win this next match or two if i want to see it on my dota buff >.>
It is based on hidden mmr if it is NMM, and on "typical" mmr if it is RMM.
Actually the skill bracket represents not the average mmr, but the percentile of average mmr of all the 10 players in the game.
Bot 75% of matches are tagged as Normal Skill
Next 15% of matches belong to High Skill
Top 10% of matches are considered Very High Skill
The barriers change over time, but are usually around 3.2k and 3.6k.
^ wtf are you literally throwing?
I am sure that Valve can track via your IP even if you use a VPN so they force your new acc in the same bracket, maybe +/-500 mmr of you main tho im not sure, its just a conspiration
@triplesteal, VHS is 10%?
I heard that the pool of 4k+ players its only roughly 1% of the entire dota pool of players
though i dont understand how that translate to matches but whatever
^according to the official data posted at some pointed in 2013 b4 RMM was introduced, the quantile of ppl in mmr range 0-4100 was 99% (=1% was above 4100).
The percentiles of matches that matter for skill brackets on dbuff/dotamax/etc. are not the same as percentiles of players though. For example, 10% of games with highest mmr are played by less than 10% players; they just play more (on average); it's pretty intuitive.
@Im Good
the less games you have, the more ech game impacts your hidden mmr. On recently started account, you may lose/win several hundreads of pts just with one extremely good (or poor) performance. Later on it will become more stable.
can someone from admins create a thread and pin it :
Normal skill/Обычный уровень/通常 技能 = 0-3200 mmr
High skill/Продвинутый уровень/高 技能 = 3200-3700 mmr
Very high skill/Очень высокий уровень/很高 技能 = 3700+ mmr
pls
^^ +1
Stahp diz unnecessary threads, you have frickin Google man! It can even tell you how many calories the last dog collar you ate had, this should almost be common knowledge anyway.

Got a question about normal, high and very high skill brackets, and mmr.
I've heard that high skill is >3.3k and very high is >3.8k, but which mmr is that based on?
Is that based on the mmr you receive and alter by playing ranked after your calibration matches, or based on the 'hidden mmr' which changes when you play public matches?
