There are a number of factors at play (including win rate, impact on your matches, and skill of your matches), and playing/winning in a VHS match doesn't guarantee that your score will go up. Keep in mind that your rank is not only determined by your personal performance but by that of others around you - as time goes on, you're competing for the same spot with thousands of other people.
We're working on some big changes to the rankings that not only make it easier to understand why your score is changing, but to improve the ranking calculations themselves - generally to be more favorable to mid-to-high MMR ranked players, at the expense of "professional" players, unranked players and stackers/spammers/exploiters.

Hi guys, I've always wondered about how Hero Score is working?! For example, I was Nr. 946 or stuff with Omniknight, then I Played one game in VHS, won it and went from 5,1k score, down to 4,9k. And it was game nr. 80 with omni or stuff. It was a 4or5k mmr game...
And now im a littlebit scared, cuz im 125 with bristle, and even if i win games, i might go down with the hero score ? Maybe some1 can explain this to me.
