You can make a smurf but you'll only get high skill. Understand 99% of smurfs are lower skill players smurfing so the first games ( if you are any decent at the game) should be extremely easy to dominate. After that high skill and very high skill are not populated with legit 4-5ks. Only smurf who either got lucky, or are decent at the game. You won't be letting anybody down till ranked. At that point pick a support even if you think you are a core player. Then just learn, that was the only way I was able to legit learn how to play dota was from Plahinh with 4-5k games, after you play enough you'll come back to your main and laugh at the way you used to play.

biggest advantage - playing with higher mmr players and experiencing higher skill dota.

sometimes when you first smurf you can still meet legit 5-6k players who play seriously and then you feel like wow im such a trash.
