Make a lot of space and pray to all things holy that the AM knows what he is supposed to do, and knows how to do it. If there is no support better pick that. Don't pick more greedy carries. If a guy picks AM in post-7.00 it's either because he had a recent dominating performance and wants to do it again (which you will try to allow him to) or he bought a sick set for AM and wants to try it out (in which case you're likely to be fucked).
In terms of picks you can't really do anything about it but adapt.
For example if a teammate first picked a Techies then it would be a good idea to choose heroes who have a stronger lategame, by virtue of the fact that that Techies will plant green bombs all over your base, everyone in the game knows that the game will be at least 60+ minutes long.
Don't underestimate a 5-slotted AM. Three dead without buybacks or cores with BKB on CD will die to an AM, unless the enemy is something like a Spectre/PA/6-slotted Slark with a bunch of Agi stacks.
The meta doesn't exist below 5k
The only thing you should blame for incompetence is the player
Of course it would be hard to win if the antimage you get is a dimwit who rushes VG before boots and goes for BF before making treads, only sits in the lane, and gets 6 slotted 50 minutes in, but you should also think did you make space for him? Did you adapt your playstyle?

Open your fucking eyes
It would've been easy if jugg didnt buy bf, alch didnt buy radi, and both riced my jungle 24/7, or if both of them didnt pick any of those shit in the first place
If your team picks am you need to choose a space creator aka some one with high early game impact or early kill potential. A couple examples would be:
Carry: Ursa, Slark, luna, jugg
Support: witch doctor, cm, spirit breaker, pudge.
There are of course other heroes that will pair well, but those are just a couple with high early game impact I used as example.
I recommend going woods and leaving him alone on his lane. Then you create space around teh map 24/7. Eventuallt am will catch up and you will win - if he's any decent. If not, then don't worry, you wouldve lost anyway if you had gone support.
At least this way you have some fun.
If your team picks AM, you help the AM farm. Try to convince your team to not pick greedy heroes and take team fights opposite the lanes AM is farming in. It's all about a back and forth of drawing attention away from each other (they respond to AM, then they respond to you etc)
The hard part is convincing your team to play around AM. Since you like playing riki so much, you can create so much space in the early game for any of the lanes. This should pressure your opponents into focusing you rather than AM.
Who tf suggested slark, luna, and jugg are space creators? All 3 split push until they have they have theyre cooldowns come off just like am. If u want a mid, with ur am safe, ursa, ember (especially cuz he dicks am on the other team), necro, timber, magnus, etc. r good space creators.
yeah you should help the am farm and not ignore him all game expecting him to carry the game
that's what happens when someone picks am
if ur team picks am you need to pick heroes that can make space and kill with 0 farm
Also make sure your second carry can respond well to aggression
Ask yourself if you want to win or not. If the answer is yes, you make space for the am and trust him.
You can't win otherwise - he sucks up too much farm to carry him.

7 game row lose... now if team pick am i will feed mid
