I'm pretty sure necro is built when lycan wants to advise teamfights and mom and armlet is for grouping up to fight
Wolves should build a pack. Alpha wolf+ Necros + 4 wolfs + Lycan himself. Don't forget this is Zoo dota patch and winners build better zoos.
Lycan with an AC Deso, hotd w/tomato bear and necros hits harder and takes objectives faster than MoM armlet lycan with no zoo
lycan's build is very flex, pros are going either for necro AC bkb for lycan push and MoM armlet bkb (sometimes diffu) for fighting. or both. they can do it bcos they r pros.
I've seen most pros go primarily the necronomicon first item build, and it's almost always against invisible heroes. Earlier this was the split push build but the players now are using it solely for team fighting now. However I do see a lack of damage and attack speed on the wolf in his ultimate. Because of this he usually ends up not getting a kill before it expires. Which is why I like the Mask of madness + Armlet a lot more. If you still really need the necro, going for Armlet and MOM after that is too late. Usually I see them going for deso or AC after that. There is of course the alternative of having an ogre magi on the team buffing you with attack speed.
lycan wouldn't work in lower brackets. you see pros get books ac but you when try it in your games you'll lose cuz #retardedteam.
i think its just ti thing, necros offer a lot of utility compared to just damage from mom armlet and thats what they want from caries this patch
pretty sure its not worth it in pubs and armlet mom is way better especially for ratting
Necro is much worse compared to before imo because Feral Impulse doesn't give attack speed anymore. The "all your units get chance for crit in Shapeshift" is nice, but it was already there before Feral Impulse got changed. So I really don't know why they are buying it. The stats it gives are useless as well, you only get 16 STR, 24 int that you don't really need and a decent active that has a horribly long downtime, for 5k gold. 5k gold is AC money.
if a ns opinion matters, i rush deso wen i can. yo can get it und 10mins if you lasthit decent and farm some jungle camps. You can two shot supports and low armor cores and you van snowball from there. AC is a must, being a strhero with low as. Necro if you are trying to end the game early. I like hotd too, if lane goes hard it makes you very tanky and allows you to go jungle early.
Is nice bcs lategame you have 1slot more bcs you escensially dont need boots as lycan. Vlads is underrated tbh. Your passive, alpha wolf aurs and vlads aura is like +60% damage idk the exsct number.
Bkb almost all games but in my opinion, if you can get away without build it, dont do it. Havent tried that mom build tbh but pros do it so it must be good.
I surprise no one mention about single target lock down factors,guess you all are bad about Lycan.

i think as lycan you arent meant to be manfighting cores. You kill the supports as fast you can (bkb would do the trick) and then with your team you kill the cores and take objetives.
That is so important in pro game because the fighting/combos environment is much more intense compare to sloppy pick up fight in pub,more so in 5K below.
Anyway you all shouldn't be concerned about pro games build with your games,as there is no meta below 5K.

Yesterday burning build necro over mom build. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3362113115 the announcers said it was a good call cus liquid's team was all physical and had weaver with minus armor stuff so losing another 5 armor on mom would actually be suicide. Plus necro has truesight for weaver.
