    So previously I saw some sort of popular League streamer who goes by the name "loltyler1" make the transition to Dota because he got banned back in league. Not exactly familiar of the guy, but the way he acts in-game pretty much justifies his ban IMHO.

    But no matter how toxic you are in-game, I feel that if you are an absolute newbie in this game and you start playing Dota now you would 7/10 times quit within your first 25 games because of the absolute toxicity of the "noob pool" stained by smurfers, and I think nobody(not even this cringy streamer that thinks screaming at every little play is funny) deserves this. Which raises the question: will the game lose its players quicker and die out unexpectedly earlier because of the lack of player population growth?

      dota is not for noob

        The problem is he played a normal matched immediately, I believe he didn't play the Tutorial so if you noticed he has a lot of questions, even deny of creeps (well in LOL doesn't have deny). He became ignorant in dota 2 it doesn't mean that if you play LOL you can easily transition into DOTA 2, But here's a thing, a DOTA 2 player can easily transitioned into LOL but not vice versa.

          Thats not the point. The first time I played Dota 2 back in 2013-2014 I didn't have this much of an awful experience, mainly I think because there was a lesser fixation for smurfing and generally it was less toxic for me as a new player(although I played Dota 1, I got totally confused with all the hotkeys out of place and the shop and whatnot).

          I get that most of us would still want to hang on to our superiority complex over League, but if we keep this up, scaring away the new players on the very onset of their experience with inconsiderate smurfs, we would only end up with lesser players. Too lazy to confirm with a research or stat, but it feels like were losing more players by the year, and we're unable to keep the new ones who even bother to try the game out. The game will die in less than 5 years if we keep this up. Dota 2 now feels like the same way Dota 1 did when it was slowly dying out to newer games back in 2010-2011.

            @Reddington
            I think any decent player from each game can transition rather well. Its all about the aproch, once you know the how (ie good players know how to get good at games) the rest is about time.
            However i don't know if he was good at lol.

            @Dog
            I am sure theres many other reasons why dota 2 isnt growing. Like it can't just be toxic players and Smurfs.

              Dota doesn't need new players anyway. They should just focus on keeping their loyal playerbase who have been playing since Dota 1. But they are doing neither.

                ^ TI7 24 mil $ , dota is doing fine. If you are a retarded person who has problems in RL and they think that they are very good in everything without even learning then they have biger problems, and learning dota is the last on thr list. If you start a new game( any game) that is complex , play the ingame tutorials , then select 2-3 heroes and go on youtube and watch more tutorials, read guides...then practice with BOTs , then when you are used with the game you can start playing normal games, wich like in any other game you gonna make mistakes and people will flame at any stage of the game , but at least you have an ideea of what are u doing. You can't expect because you played other game before just to join a normal game and people to praise you for you performance.

                When I start playing Patrician, I spended at least 20 hours on ingame tutorials and campains..and then look on youtube for other people playing ( now I find the game very easy on all stages).. I have plenty of friends that they learn wile they were playing and now after many hours in game they got stuck on a very low level and can't progress.
                Learn first , then play ! Simple as that.

                    Yeah but its a product from a business, very hard to just sit back and not expect growth or at least try. I don't think one would last long at valve with your idea.

                      @happydonut Probably not the only reasons, but you can't deny they make up a huge chunk of what a new player experiences in his first few games. Just a few weeks ago I was watching a friend play his old "new account"(he plays league more often and has only played dota like a few times with me before) and I was watching him deal with a toxic player. I already have enough friends who crossed over to League and just this one who even bothered to peek into dota again gets a horrible experience.

                        @dog i hear ja. Honestly best and only way to deal with toxic players is to mute both text and voice asap without talking back.

                          Also, PUBG, a pay-to-play game, just overtook Dota in terms of players online in-game on steam.This speaks volumes with the game's current state. You might argue that they are of different genres and most of PUBG's growth came from Chinese players, but what happens next when next LCS when they also implement their crowdsourcing model for their prizepool and they eventually overtake TI8 prizepool?

                            ^ remember h1z1 EA game, everyone and his mum played it and 6 Month Later game is dead. Same will happen to pubg.
                            These games get so fucking boring After just few hours.

                              Dota is better now than it has ever been for new players. The "Heroes" and "Learn" tab we got in Reborn, the tutorial, which is miles better than the pre-Reborn Dota tutorial which didn't even have anything to do with the game or the map. And if the matchmaking changes are to be believed regarding queuing newbies with high behaviour score players, then there's really not a whole lot to complain about.

                              Smurfers and experienced players with new accounts have always been there. But the percentage of those is still quite low, and can't singularly be picked as the reason why new players will develop an interest in the game and continue playing. I did see a few clips of Tyler1 playing Dota, and despite being one of the high level League players, was flabbergasted at Bloodseeker's Rupture damage because he didn't know the mechanics behind it. Not everyone who started playing Dota 2 had experience with Dota 1 or other MOBAs, but there's way too much information about getting good at the game now, than before.

                                  That depends on the question you ask and the people you ask. If you ask things like "How to get VHS", you don't deserve anything better than "Destroy the enemy ancient". If you ask something very specific, the answer is usually easier and goes a small way towards helping you make better decisions.
