all those features are have trivial effect to your day-to-day activities. what you want in technological innovation is to make daily living much more comfortable and having important features like live electronic hack or 2-way charging or mainframe-level storage (ok I admit those are just fucking ripoffs but definitely worth $1k). the advanced camera is just so useless but of course the applef@gs will just eat up the novelty appeal because that's how people are.

Oled is not an insignificent advance, but on a screen that small? You aren't going to notice image quality increase cus it has a huge resolution for the size already (yes I get resolution isn't the difference between oled and regular led). I don't know how much battery it'll save.
Facial recognition is kind of a gimmick since we already have the thumbprint thing to unlock. Ok hold it up to your face and it unlocks. Cool, but now I need to touch my phone anyway to do anything. Just as easy to touch with a finger and start swiping, plus I don't always want my phone to unlock when looking at it to like read a text.
Other stuff, the charge pad is cool but again is it really needed?
The only reason I went from a 5s to a 7 was cus it was a 16 gb 5s that kept running out of storage.
Then my wife went from a super crappy 5c to a 7 for same reasons. We considered the 6, but the 6 was 32gb or 128gb and the 128 version was only like $50 less than the base 7 with same memory, I don't remember exactly, but for anything over 32gb the 7 wasn't much more money than the se or 6.

Apple products are literally never worth it for the money, and you can always find cheaper alternatives that do the job better, unless, of course, you need to run very specific software that only runs on mac.
In case of everything else, there are cheaper alternatives that do the job either equally well, or better, while still not being locked into the whole "apple" software monopoly to begin with.

Just buy a used last gen iphone. I'll bet a used 7 is like $300 and it's a great phone. Apple products are great actually, but they're like luxury cars. Do you need a luxury car to get from point a to b? No, but it is a nice thing to have if you can afford it.
