cancelling blinks is probably better than hitting buildings for 4-10 damage
but more importantly saving the manta to possibly dodge something might help you win a fight, which means you can hit buildings with more ease with your hero
i think in most cases using manta to hit buildings is fairly useless but you could use it in another lane to push it in and make sure two lanes are pushing in when you fight, now that's value

another good one but highly depends on how far into the game you are, lategame manta illusions are pretty tanky if you picked a hero that builds tanky I guess
there is more case:
1-you are going in tf, around towers, than use manta to doge spells and cut blinks
2-your team won tf, and now you have manta, and manta will be ready for next tf, so use manta for tanking towers, and push
3-you won tf, but other team use buyback or manta wont be ready for next tf, than don`t use manta save for tf, to doge spells
4-if you are split pushing, and you don`t see other team: you can use manta for scouting if you have other escape options, or save for escape,or just push with illusions, better 10 than nothing.
5-you are split pushing and you see other team: if they are close, save manta if the aren`t you can use to push or tank or even cut creeps if you push tower 1 or 2.
These are my thoughts what can be done, but I`m not good in manta avoiding spells, but high skilled ppl can so I will say depend on skills of player to if he can avoid lina ulty, invo tornado or es stuns than save for doge, but if only bh track or silance than maybe is better to use on scouting, if you aren`t good at micro skills than tank.
Or be like Miracle. Dodge Razes, kinetic fields and Glimpses like a boss.

and then die 5 seconds later to something that could be completely prevented by not having manta on cd
Use it when enemy team is dead so not having manta doesn't matter, may as well have more dps. Otherwise use it to split-push lanes from afar, make sure you stay off map while your manta is cd.
yes i think its better to just save it if enemy team still alive,and it seems you really not gonna use any manta if you get manta+bkb and vs roof

I mean you don't have to 100% stay off the map. But generally if your manta is cd it's because you finished pushing a lane in and you think enemies are approaching, quite sad when you get orchided/silenced farming a lane with manta on cd.
theres no fix rule just think about scenarios to use it in. ie. to dodge/dispel/jebait/disrupt/farm and in your case to deal tower damage. 4-10 damage is like an extra creep on steroids. id imagine tb and morph illusions do more tho.
the best use of manta in this patch is still split pushing tho.
and obviously if u buy manta as damage on stuff like spectre and am u save them for burst kills

they deal like 4-10 damage per hit,isnt it more worth to just micro ur illus and move them to enemy t4 area and hit their heroes with those illu?
