Maybe Shadow Demon. He has saves and can trade with shadow poison.
But I think Riki pos3 is a bad idea, since he is a weak laner.
^agreed, and if it happens, a hero with great control (slows, stuns, hexes) do well. Also a hero with early game harass. Just buy sentrys.

riki usually does really fine in 1v1 lane so you can go 3 bottom and force the enemy supports there, yeah.
or just pick whatever support is needed against enemy, such as grimstroke, and lane 2v2 with the riki.
When your team has pos 3 riki in this specific meta just report him, pos 3 is now meka/vlads/crimson/pipe carrier.
Grim is pretty meh atm, Lich is slow as fuck now if you are low skill pleb that has 0 understanding of positioning in teamfights ez 0-20.
Just take tide get queling blade if he manages to farm beside you, you suck, so he will leave the lane in frustration and be useless somewhere else so you can make items i listed above and win every teamfight!
@Marko Yea picking a (Tide, lc, Axe, Underlord, or just better pos 3) and out farming the Riki from my experience wins the most games because as most people said Riki pos 3 sucks in this meta (however he was viable a few patches ago when they first reworked his ultimate). I just don't feel that's what a high mmr player would do so wanted to check with yall.
@miiigz, @captain KEEL I like the Grim and SD suggestions, both provide save for myself or Riki to run way from spin if CM Freezes. Thanks for the suggestions.
Possibly position 4 NS would be good, I could buy some utility item such as (URN/meka/vlads/crimson/pipe carrier) for my team in later game to make up for the RIKi's bad offline itemization and be tanky enough to trade with the CM without dying to jug spin from one CM freeze.
I looked at my Dotabuff past games and it looks like I have opted for a Weaver pos 4 with 3 riki offlane VS jug in previous patches and won. Provides me ability to escape with SHUKUCHIW and trade effectively with enemy support just need to make sure we win the sentry war in lane.
I'ma keep thinning on this so i make correct draft choice next time. Sound like I really should try to make the Riki play pos 4 (but we all know riki in pos 4 will spend 0 gold on wards) making it a tough game to win.
Well my issue with this is that position 3 needs to bring control/initiation/counterinitiation. If there is nothing like this on position 3, other heroes need to take this responsibility. This is something that happens to me when I go position 3 wind - I own the game, win the lane to lose in late game - last game with WR i had 19:6:11, but because we didnt have enough control/initiation, we ended up losing. Didnt help our safelane/mid lost as well even though I tped several times.
I would go with something like warlock/phoenix/Cent/kotl - those heroes win lanes and as well can work with limited items (blink). Even enigma can be position 4 - zoning is quite easy vs CM and when you zone/kill her, just rotate to the jungle. Once you have bkb+blink and you catch necro, they cant do anything.
offlane riki works (at least in my bracket and zai's bracket xd) if he gets 1v1 lane or if he has some of the supports mentioned above (sd for example) who can save him from feeding. just buy sentries and u win the lane no problemo
@TAW | miC I see you just played offlane riki pos 3 with a support Dark Willow vs a (CM + Monkey) and won lane and game ill give the replay a watch this weekend. That should help me understand why those heros (Dark Willow, Disruptor) made good position 4 and how to approach the lane. Thanks!

I have been dwelling on one game that was played during one of my solo ranked placement matches in 3k.

The enemy safelane was a (JUG + CM) and my core offline was a Riki. Please provide hero recommendations to pick as a position 4 for this game assuming I was lane supporting the Riki. I had last pick and I wanted to pick a high MS melee hero like LC or AXE vs a (JUG + CM) lane however using chat I concluded that Riki was not be willing to support and I did not want two heros competing for farm in the offlane.
All I'm looking for in this post is some draft recommendations because I was last picking in this game. I last picked Pugna incorrectly. I only picked Pugna because I was not sure what hero to pick and hes one of my best support hero's with 80 games played at 65% win rate however he was definitely the was wrong choice in this game. If CM Stunned me, Jug got an easy kill with spin. Riki has no save, and my save with decrepify doesn't save Riki vs jug spin or cm nuke. The enemy safelane did not even need to pull camps they just pushed waves into our tower and killed both our heros non stop as they got first blood at level 1.
Now I will note my team played awful and we lost all lanes, and I also did awful for many reasons but lets ignore the play and assume the game was winnable considering I am the only constant factor in all games and if a booster played the game on my account he would have drafted correctly, won lane, and potential won the game.
So what heros would you recommend to support a offline Riki? I will take unconventional answers as well such as RIKi will away lose that lane, just run a trilane with xxx hero to help your lion + CK safe getting trashed by a (necro + jak).
